Week 14 Annarasumanara and What kind of sushi are you?

I took the quiz and I get a spicy tuna roll, and you know what I good with that.

Spicy Tuna Roll
You are a delicious spicy tuna roll, my friend! What does that mean for your personality, you ask? We'll tell you. You're cute and adorable on the outside, but you have some zest in you! People are surprised when you let out your more fiery side, but most people don't have to see that (unless they get on your bad side).

Annarasumanara

1. What is your reaction to the text you just read?
I was confused the entire time reading it till I got towards chapters 24-27 that's when a lot of things started to come together. I enjoyed every bit of it, all the drama, the heartbreak, and all the character development.
2. What connections did you make with the story? Discuss what elements of the story with which you were able to connect? There wasn't really any connects for me, except for the absent mother. My mom passed away 2 years ago so i guess it's a little different then the mother in this story, but I can understand the pain of not having your mom in your life when you need her the most.
3. What changes would you make to adapt this story into another medium? What medium would you choose; what changes would you make? I honestly wouldn't change a thing if this was going to be adapted into another medium. It's a unique story of depression, seeing the world around you as a world full of real magic to escape pains of growing up. I would love to see this in a animated adaption.

4. In what ways does this story seem more adapted to an online environment?
With it being a web comic on webtoons it is formatted to not just be accessible on a computer, but mobile as well. Webtoons a fairly popular place to read original webcomics and some of them even get opportunities to have their comic adapted to animation.

Romance Manga

Growing up I have read so much romance manga including, Kaichou wa-maid sama, Ouran Highschool Host Club, and Vampire Knight. Each one having a cherished memory of me and my friends gushing over them in middle school and all through high school. We would always read over each others shoulder when either of us had the new volume of a series and once we finished we were forced to wait till the next one came out, which lead to many theories and debates on what was going to happen nexts. Will our ships sail or would they sink.

Let's go in order

Maid Sama: This series keep me on my toes, would Misaki leave the cafe, would her secret be known all around school, would Misaki and Usui end up together? Which all of these end up happening but none was ever portrayed in a negative way and the ending was very sweet. As great as the ending was I still wish that there was more to this series.

Ouran: This was a series I watched and re-watched severals times, and read and re-read several times. This is not just a beloved romance series, it's also a series that good to re-watch and re-read when you need some good vibes or at least that's how it is for me. The anime and the manga both ended very differently with the anime ending at a spot that was half way through in the manga. The show will always have a place in my heart but after reading it through and through, I wish that they made the anime follow the manga, plot get much more interesting and it gives you the character development that everyone wanted to see that characters go through.

Vampire Knight: I watched the anime of this series til completion and got about to volume 4 of the manga which is about a halfway point in the anime. However through spoilers from my friends I know how the manga ends and honestly the ending for both the anime and the manga where a little bit disappointing. I loved this series, I loved the love struggle between the 3 main characters, but their character development was lacking in opinion. And it was very obvious that Yuki and Kaname were going to be together even after the fact that you find out that they are brother and sister.

Chi's Sweet Home

I read Chi's Sweet Home and I loved this manga! I also watched the anime adaptation, and the whole idea and story is just so simple and sweet and with the main character Chi the Kitten he is super easy to fall in love with. The story is easy to follow and its simple Chi wants to find his mother, he wants to go home and thats what tries to focus on and ultimately fails each time. Through his failed attempts he starts to love the family that found him and they in turn love him too and end up keeping him instead of trying to find a home for him.
I unfortunately didn't get to read much more since the link for this manga ended up breaking just as I got to chapter nine!

Attack on Titan!

Attack on Titan was a series I got really into when the anime first came out. I binged watched the whole first season and then waited patiently for the next season that never came until 3 years later or longer. I dropped off it anime and got into reading it. I skipped a huge chuck of the manga and picked up where the anime left off which the difference between was huge so that was good.
The manga dove into a lot of heavy topics all things that pushed the story forward, I am not currently caught nor do I intend to catch up. The manga finished off the main plot of the series where erin and the gang finally achieve their goal in reaching the fallen wall of Maria and reaching his childhood home and discovering what his father had hidden their basement. After that the manga time skipped and introduced a new set of characters to focus on, and I personally did not care for the after story that they are giving us. There is too much politic stuff going on more so than what the first half of the story gave us, and their was a lot of plot twist coming one after another and it starts to get confusing.

Junji Ito - Tomie

This week I read Junji Ito's Tomie, I love horror stories and Junji Ito's take on horror is very unique. The Plot of Tomie at first was kind of confusing, the first chapter was a whole different take on how the character Tomie had died. Chapters 2 - 4 was also another take on her death but it felt like there was something there that tied it back to the chapter 1. I can't truly say that the 2 don't tie in since I have yet to get further into the story, but it has my attention and I am ready to find out the connection! The art is wonderful and all the horror scenes are as creepy as they should be for the story it's portraying. Tomie herself right off that bat you could tell that something about her is not human, and that something crazy is going to happen.

That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime

I heard about this anime/manga a few years ago, but never got that chance to watch/read it. Now that I finally have read it, it definitely was not I was expecting. I love it, its cute and has a very funny story. The slime character is my favorite, mostly because his situation is very unfortunate. The guy was at the wrong place and wrong time, was caught off guard and because he was a nice guy he protected his coworker who only brought him out that night to show off his fiancee. I really enjoyed his journey to becoming a slime that flow of that whole moment was just a pleasant read. Even his exploration in gain new powers and meeting new people a fun to read. Never a dull moment.

Ghost in the Shell

I grew up with the late night anime that Toonami would also have on after 10 pm and Ghost in the Shell was one that was always apart of that line up.

I personally never really got into since I would catch it every now and then. When I heard that they were adapting it to a live action film I was kinda skeptical and hear peoples comments on it, it sounds like it wasn't very good.

I read some of if, but again I never really liked the whole futuristic, cyborg protagonist kinda of story. For me the first chapter felt kinda dry and it was kinda of confusing what was going on it feels like there should have been more build up up to that point in the story like a few chapters explain how did the world come to this change, who created the cyborgs, things like. Maybe it gets explained later on, but I usually prefer to have information like that explain in the begin before we introduce the main characters.
